The “Business First Caucus” is a group of State Senators and State Representatives that meet monthly to discuss and promote business initiatives that would help aid businesses in Ohio. They are a group of like-minded congressmen/women that are looking to create legislation that is pro-business. They often bring in speakers from local businesses to help them understand the needs and how they can help.
This specific meeting had a manufacturing focus.
Tony and Ben Nighswander, the owners of APT Manufacturing, talked about the workforce problem in manufacturing and the importance of colleges and manufacturers working together to train through apprenticeship programs. They also discussed some of the challenges of living on the state line and hiring workers who are residents of Indiana, and how the funding often falls short for those workers.
APT wants to thank Congressmen Riedel and McColley for inviting them and taking the time to listen to the needs of industry in our region and how we can work together to improve the manufacturing climate throughout the state of Ohio.
